Delete OneDrive completely, force-restart the iPhone 13, and then reinstall OneDrive—the official Microsoft procedure for an iOS app that closes or crashes shortly after launch.^1^
Reinstall OneDrive cleanly
- Delete the app rather than offloading it
- Press and hold the OneDrive icon.
- Select Remove App → Delete App → Delete.
- Deleting may remove downloaded/offline copies and local app settings. Files already stored in OneDrive remain in the cloud.
- Force-restart the iPhone 13
- Press and quickly release Volume Up.
- Press and quickly release Volume Down.
- Hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release it.
- Reinstall OneDrive
- Open the App Store, search for Microsoft OneDrive, and install it again.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account.
- Confirm that the app remains open and displays the Home or Files screen.
- Enable background operation
- Open Settings → General → Background App Refresh.
- Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled and the switch for OneDrive is on. Microsoft includes this in its iOS crash procedure.^1^
If it still closes
- If the iPhone is running a beta version of iOS, update to the latest stable public iOS release before testing again; compatibility problems are expected with prerelease operating systems.^2^
- For a personal OneDrive account, use Contact Microsoft Support from the support page below and report:
- iPhone 13 model
- iOS version
- OneDrive app version
- that the app closes approximately five seconds after launch
- whether the clean reinstall changed the behavior
- For a work or school account, contact the organization’s IT administrator or service desk.^1^
