    Hello @Laimonas Gryva ,

    Good day! I hope you are doing well.

    To help provide the most accurate and effective guidance, could you please share a bit more detail about your setup and the export process?

    • Which version of Microsoft Visio are you using (for example, Visio Plan 2, Visio Professional 2024, Visio Professional 2021, etc.)?
    • Are you exporting the file using File > Export > Create PDF/XPS, or are you printing it using Microsoft Print to PDF?
    • Is the diagram contained on a single page measuring 7400 × 850 mm, or is it already split across multiple pages?
    • What happens when you attempt to save the file as PDF?
      • Does the export fail?
      • Is part of the diagram missing or clipped?
      • Is the output scaled incorrectly?
      • Do you receive any error messages?
    • Could you provide a screenshot of:
      • Design > Page Setup > Page Size
      • Design > Page Setup > Print Setup
    • Are you required to have the output as one continuous PDF page, or would a multi-page (tiled) PDF be acceptable?
    • Have you already tried exporting the diagram as SVG or printing it via Microsoft Print to PDF?

    Additionally, if possible, please let me know whether the PDF is intended for: Digital viewing only, Large-format printing/plotting or else.

    This additional context will help us understand your environment, identify any page-size or PDF export limitations, and provide the most appropriate recommendations for your scenario.

    Looking forward to your response so we can get this sorted out for you together.

    Kind regards.

    A full-size 7400 × 850 mm single-page PDF cannot be exported reliably from Visio, because 7400 mm is about 291 inches, exceeding the approximately 200-inch (5080 mm) page boundary encountered by Visio PDF export; preserve quality by using a tiled PDF or an SVG-based large-format workflow.^1^

    Option 1: Export as SVG for one continuous 7.4-metre drawing

    SVG is a vector format, so lines, shapes, and text remain sharp when enlarged. This is the preferred route if the output must remain one continuous page.

    1. In desktop Visio, select File → Export → Change File Type.
    2. Under Graphic File Types, select SVG.
    3. Select Save As, choose the destination, and save the file. Visio officially supports SVG export through this path.^2^
    4. Give the SVG to the print provider or place it in a large-format publishing application that supports the required page dimensions.
    5. Ask the provider to:
      • keep the artwork as vectors;
      • output at exactly 7400 × 850 mm;
      • avoid “Fit to media” or other automatic scaling;
      • embed or correctly substitute all fonts.
    6. Before production, request a proof and verify one known measurement.

    Avoid PNG or JPEG for this workflow unless the print provider specifically requests them; they are raster formats and require very large pixel dimensions for an eight-metre output.

    Option 2: Create a tiled, multipage PDF directly from Visio

    Use this when a multipage PDF is acceptable.

    1. Open Design, then select the Page Setup dialog launcher.
    2. On Print Setup, choose a standard paper size supported by the PDF printer or final plotter.
    3. Under Print zoom, use Fit to and specify enough sheets across and down to cover the drawing. Visio supports fitting a drawing across multiple printer-paper-sized tiles.^3^
    4. Check the page-break boundaries and move any shapes that unintentionally cross a boundary.
    5. Select File → Print → Microsoft Print to PDF.
    6. Save the PDF and inspect every tile for clipping or shifted content. Microsoft documents Microsoft Print to PDF as the workaround for long, complex Visio plotter drawings.^4^

    If the printer accepts a scaled PDF

    A 1:2 output would be 3700 × 425 mm, below the 5080 mm boundary. However, do not assume that setting Visio’s print scale to 50% will automatically make built-in PDF/XPS export produce that custom page size—the available output size can depend on the PDF printer driver.

    Use this only after the print provider confirms that it accepts a 1:2 vector PDF and will enlarge it exactly 200% without fit-to-media scaling. After export, check the PDF’s document properties and confirm that its page is actually 3700 × 425 mm before sending it.
