Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hello Lori,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community
Regarding your personal Microsoft account, having a personal account associated with the same email address can sometimes cause sign-in confusion, but it does not create or activate a Microsoft 365 Business license. The license must be assigned to a work account managed by your organization's administrator.
Typically, your organization's Microsoft 365 administrator must first create a user account for you in the Microsoft 365 admin center and then assign a license to that account. Please ask your administrator to verify the following:
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center ( https://admin.cloud.microsoft/)
- Go to Users > Active users.
- Check whether a work account exists for ******@bridgeportllc.com.
- If it does not exist, create a new user account using that email address.
- Assign an available Microsoft 365 Business license to the user.
- Provide you with the temporary password and sign-in information.
If a work account has already been created, try signing in at https://portal.office.com/Home/ and select Work or school account if prompted.
To better understand the situation, could you confirm:
- Has your administrator already created a Microsoft 365 user account for you and assigned a license?
- When you sign in, do you see a choice between Personal account and Work or school account?
- Are you receiving any specific error message when attempting to use the license?
This information will help determine whether the issue is with account creation, license assignment, or a sign-in conflict.
