My system used to be 25H2. I used ISO of 26H2 to fix some problems. I kept my settings and data.
After that each time my laptop wake up from sleep (S0 mode) system becomes laggy until I open Intel® Graphics Software and click on it or press win+ctrl+shift+B【edit: now it's found that sleep doesn't matter. Closing the screen alone is enough to bring laggy】
here's some of my system info

Seems like a problem with the Display software conflict. Clean boot may help test more.

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type “msconfig” (without quotes) and press Enter.

In the System Configuration window, select the Services tab.

Check the box next to “Hide all Microsoft services”. Ensure you do it carefully, and not disable all Microsoft services.

    Click on “Disable all”.

Select the Startup tab and click on “Open Task Manager”.

In the Task Manager window, select each startup item and click on “Disable”.

Close Task Manager and click on OK in the System Configuration window.

    Restart your computer.

Thank you. I think the latest drivers are incomptable. Let me try to use drivers from Lenovo which are old.

Remove the Display drivers completely and Install the newest copy of the driver, available from the OEM or the GPU maker. The steps for it are here:

    https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2022/02/troubleshoot-display-driver-issues-in-windows-11.html

    • Please download DDU from this link.
    • Extract the ZIP file and Open the DDU (ver).exe file.
    • Extract the folder contents when prompted.
    • Run the file.
    • Click Close on Preferences.
    • On the right pane, select GPU. If you have Audio issues or multiple displays, select Audio.
    • Select the GPU, i.e., Intel/AMD/Nvidia. If you have multiple GPUs in a laptop, remove one by one.

Straightaway, select the Clean and Restart button. This step would remove the driver and restart your computer, which can fix Windows 11 display issues.

After Windows restarts, try this Lenovo driver. Pause Windows updates as well.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

update: problems seem to be fixed by myself. It seems to be related to power saving settings. To those meets similar issues: I fixed it by installing an older version of driver, uninstalled the previous one, then reupdate the driver by Windows update. I failed at the first time because I adjust the power efficiency settings again after the last step and the problem appeared again. that's why I think it's related to power saving settings of Intel® Graphics Software.

Reinstall the Lenovo-approved Intel Iris Xe graphics driver cleanly, because resetting the graphics driver clears the lag and no matching Windows 11 26H2-wide issue is currently documented.

    Reinstall the graphics driver

Win+Ctrl+Shift+B explicitly resets the graphics driver, so its consistently restoring performance narrows the problem to the graphics/display path after S0 Modern Standby resume rather than establishing a general OS-performance fault.^1^

    1. Download the current Intel graphics driver for the ThinkBook 16 G6 IRL from Lenovo Support before removing anything. Prefer Lenovo’s package first because it is customized for the laptop’s firmware and power configuration.
    2. Open Device Manager → Display adapters → Intel Iris Xe Graphics → Properties → Driver.
    3. Record the current driver version and date.
    4. Select Uninstall Device, enable Attempt to remove the driver for this device, and select OK. Administrator permission is required.
    5. Restart the laptop.
    6. Install the Lenovo graphics package downloaded in step 1, then restart again.
    7. Test several sleep/wake cycles without opening Intel Graphics Software or pressing the reset shortcut.

If Attempt to remove the driver for this device is unavailable, Microsoft advises performing the removal from Safe Mode.^1^

If the latest Lenovo driver is already installed and the symptom started immediately after the ISO upgrade:

    • In Device Manager → Display adapters → Intel Iris Xe Graphics → Properties → Driver, select Roll Back Driver, if available, and restart.
    • If rollback is unavailable, install the previous Lenovo-approved graphics version manually. Do not use an unrelated model’s package.

Also install the ThinkBook’s current chipset and BIOS/UEFI updates from Lenovo if newer versions are available; post-upgrade lag can involve graphics, chipset, or firmware compatibility.^2^

    Windows 11 26H2 status

Build 26300.9711 is Windows 11 26H2, but the published 26H2 issue list does not currently identify Intel Iris Xe lag after Modern Standby resume as a known broad issue. Install the latest cumulative update through Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates, but the documented 26H2 black-screen issue concerns desktop loading—primarily in Azure Virtual Desktop—and does not match this post-wake lag symptom.^3^

If reinstalling or rolling back the driver does not fix it

Capture a Modern Standby trace that includes the faulty resume:

    1. Install the Windows Performance Toolkit from the Windows ADK.
    2. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
    3. Start recording:
    mkdir C:\Temp 2>nul
    wpr -start Power

    1. Put the laptop into sleep for 5–10 minutes.
    2. Wake it and wait until the lag is visible.
    3. Stop recording before resetting the graphics driver:
    wpr -stop C:\Temp\ModernStandbyResume.etl

    1. Open the ETL in Windows Performance Analyzer and inspect:
      • PDC Notification Phase around Connected Standby Exit
      • Device Dstate for the display adapter
      • Generic Events → Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power → DisplaySessionStatus
      • CPU and GPU activity immediately after resume

Microsoft identifies display initialization and network-device restoration as common Modern Standby resume-delay areas; unexpectedly long display initialization should be taken to the system graphics vendor.^4^ WPA is Microsoft’s second-level diagnostic tool when basic SleepStudy analysis is insufficient.^5^

    Provide Lenovo support with:

    • The ETL trace
    • Graphics driver versions that reproduce and do not reproduce the issue
    • Exact BIOS version
    • Windows build 26300.9711
    • Confirmation that Win+Ctrl+Shift+B immediately restores normal performance

Continue using the shortcut only as a temporary recovery action; it resets the display driver but does not correct the failing resume state.
