I can’t access OneDrive no matter what I try

Since I purchased my Microsoft 365 Personal subscription about two years ago, I have never been able to access OneDrive.

Every single time, I see the following error message:

33f3f

I have tried accessing OneDrive directly through the "Products" dropdown menu on Microsoft's website. I have tried accessing through my Microsoft account. I have tried using different VPN servers as well as hotspot, but none of these methods worked.

I have also tried opening these links in both Safari and Google Incognito mode after seeing people suggest these methods, but I still encounter the same error:

(Basically I've tried every single thing.)

I can't even log in to Onedrive by clicking the "Sign in" button.

Microsoft Support referred me to these Q&A forums, but I haven't been able to find any discussions that address this specific issue. Please help.

    Hello A,

Since the same error occurs in different browsers, through VPN connections, and through a hotspot, repeating those tests probably will not help.

Could you please try opening https://onedrive.live.com on a phone or another computer using cellular data, then confirm:

    • Does the page fail before you enter your Microsoft account details?
    • Does it fail only after signing in to this specific account?
    • Can another Microsoft account access OneDrive on that same device?

These results should clarify whether the failure follows your Microsoft account or remains specific to the original device. If only your account fails across separate devices and networks, Microsoft Support will need to investigate the account because Q&A contributors cannot inspect its OneDrive service status.

Verify that Microsoft 365 Personal and OneDrive are attached to the same Microsoft account; if they are and the subscription is active, this two-year ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE failure needs Microsoft Support to investigate the account’s OneDrive service rather than more browser troubleshooting.

    1. Check the account and subscription state

Since Safari, Chrome Incognito, VPN endpoints, and a hotspot all produce the same result, do not repeat those tests.

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft Account dashboard.
      • If sign-in fails here too, use the sign-in assistance offered on that page.
      • Microsoft lists successful dashboard sign-in as the first check for OneDrive access failures.^1^
    2. Open Microsoft account Services.
      • Confirm Microsoft 365 Personal shows Active.
      • Note the Microsoft account/email shown there.
    3. Open Microsoft storage.
      • Check whether OneDrive reports its normal allowance, Account frozen, or an exceeded quota.
      • An over-quota OneDrive account becomes frozen after three months; the displayed remedy is to reduce storage usage.^2^
    4. Ensure the account used in steps 1–3 is exactly the account being sent to OneDrive. A Microsoft 365 subscription can be active under one Microsoft account while OneDrive is being opened under another.^3^

Also check the Microsoft 365 service status. A current outage would explain a temporary failure, but not continuous failure dating from the original purchase.^1^

    2. Escalate it as a personal-account technical issue

If the dashboard works, Microsoft 365 Personal is active, storage is not frozen, and the same account is being used, contact Microsoft Support again through the personal-account technical-support route:

    1. Open Can't sign in to OneDrive.
    2. Under Personal accounts → Technical support, select Contact Microsoft Support.
    3. Enter:
“Personal OneDrive has never opened since Microsoft 365 Personal was purchased. onedrive.live.com consistently returns ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE.”
    4. Include:
      • The screenshot.
      • The approximate subscription purchase date.
      • Confirmation that Microsoft account sign-in succeeds.
      • Confirmation that the subscription is active and storage is not frozen.
      • Confirmation that Safari, Chrome Incognito, VPN endpoints, and a mobile hotspot have already been tested.
    5. Ask for investigation of account-level OneDrive access/service activation, not another browser-cache checklist.

Microsoft’s personal-account guidance directs subscription problems to Account & Billing Help and technical OneDrive problems to Contact Microsoft Support.^4^

    One remaining isolation test

Only if every test so far used the same computer, try https://onedrive.live.com from a phone or another computer while connected to the phone’s cellular data—not the original Wi-Fi.

    • Fails on the second device as well: provide that result to Support; it strongly isolates the issue from the original computer.
    • Works on the second device: investigate filtering on the original device, such as firewall, security software, or DNS filtering. Microsoft identifies firewall, VPN configuration, and provider filtering as possible OneDrive access blockers.^1^

Do not post the email address, subscription order number, or other account identifiers in this public thread.
