There is no bypass for the 30-day security hold to access the BitLocker recovery key through the Microsoft account. The supported path is:
- Check whether the recovery key was saved somewhere else when BitLocker was turned on:
- a printed copy
- a USB flash drive
- another Microsoft account, if the device was set up by someone else
- a work or school account, if the device was ever signed into an organization account
- If it might be in a work or school account, on another device sign in to the My Account portal, open Devices, select the locked device, and choose View BitLocker Keys or View Keys.
- If access to the Microsoft account itself is the blocker, use the Microsoft account recovery form. That is the supported way to recover access to the account.
- If the recovery key cannot be found, and the change that triggered recovery cannot be undone, the remaining option is to reset the device using Windows recovery options.
Resetting the device removes all files.
Microsoft Support cannot retrieve, provide, or recreate a lost BitLocker recovery key.
