    Hi Frank,

If you need to discuss a charge on your account, review your Microsoft 365 options, or close an account, you'll need to contact Microsoft Support directly, as community members cannot access billing information or make account changes.

To proceed with chat, you can refer to the steps below:

    1. Go to this link:  https://support.microsoft.com/contactus and sign in your Microsoft account
    2. On the "Tell us your problem so we can get you the right help and support" - just type "Billing issue" then search
    3. You will see Recommended Solution, just scroll down until you can see "Contact support"
    4. Under "Tell us a little more about your problem", select "Microsoft 365 and Office"
    5. For Category select > manage my subscription > then confirm
    6. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser
    7. Confirm your account and you should be routed to Microsoft support representative who have the appropriate tools and resources to investigate and assist you further with the billing concern.

Contact Microsoft Support through Get Help, describe the issue as “Microsoft 365 billing and account closure,” and select Contact Support to be routed to an available chat or other support option.^1^

    Chat with a support agent

    1. Open Contact Microsoft customer support.
    2. Under Microsoft technical support, select Get help.
    3. Sign in with a Microsoft account.
    4. Enter Billing issue or Chat with an agent.
    5. Select Contact Support.
    6. Choose Microsoft 365 and Office, then the billing/subscription category.
    7. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser if offered.

The available contact method can depend on the product and whether it is for personal or business use.^1^ If chat does not appear, use the other contact option offered by Get Help.

    Identify the charge first

Before closing anything, open Microsoft’s billing investigation page and select the option to investigate the payment. Common possibilities include recurring billing, a purchase made by a family member using the card, or a previously declined charge being collected later.^2^

Check every Microsoft account that may have used the payment card. Have these details ready for the agent, but do not post them publicly:

    • Charge date and amount
    • Exact description shown on the statement
    • Last four digits of the payment card
    • Possible Microsoft-account email addresses
    • Any order or subscription visible under Services & subscriptions

If neither Microsoft Support nor the billing investigation can associate the charge with one of your accounts and it appears unauthorized, contact the bank or payment provider to prevent additional charges.^2^

    Discuss Microsoft 365 options

For personal use, the principal choices include Microsoft 365 plans for an individual or plans that can be shared. Business plans add business-oriented capabilities such as branded email, centralized work files, administration, and additional security controls.^3^

Microsoft’s comparison page also provides Compare plans or chat with a specialist, while Get Help routes purchasing questions to the appropriate support option.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Try or buy Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Support")

Cancel a subscription or close an account

    These are different actions:

    • To stop a Microsoft 365 subscription: sign in with the account that purchased it, open its Microsoft 365 services page, and select Cancel subscription or Upgrade or Cancel. If it displays Turn on recurring billing, automatic renewal is already off and the subscription will expire on the displayed date.[^5^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")
    • If the subscription was purchased through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, cancellation must be handled by that seller.[^5^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")
    • To close the entire personal Microsoft account: first resolve the charge, cancel subscriptions, and save anything needed from Outlook, OneDrive, or other Microsoft services. Then sign in, verify the correct account, choose a 30- or 60-day reopening window, acknowledge the warnings, and select Mark account for closure. After that window passes, the account’s data and content are deleted.^6^

Do not close the account merely to stop one subscription; closing it can remove access to other services and stored data associated with that account.
