I bought a new subscription for Microsoft Office on my Mac Pro in August 2026. It could not be installed due to the OS. So I bought a new Mac Air in August. How do I then install this MIrocrosoft office on my new computer?

    Hi,

If you are unable to complete the procedure using the Q&A assistant,

you can also download the Office 365 suite via the link below:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/download-office

    Download for Mac

Once installed, open any Microsoft Office application and sign in using the account associated with your Office 365 subscription.

If the purchase was linked to a Microsoft account, install it on the new Mac by doing the following:

    1. Go to https://microsoft365.com/setup if the product key has not been redeemed yet.
    2. Sign in with an existing Microsoft account or create one, then enter the product key. The license is added to that Microsoft account.
    3. After redemption, sign in to download Microsoft 365 or Office for Mac and run the installer on the MacBook Air.
    4. Open an Office app after installation and sign in with the same Microsoft account to activate it.

If the installer was previously downloaded on the old Mac but failed because of the operating system, that does not prevent installation on the new Mac. The key step is that the purchase must be associated with the Microsoft account.

If the issue was that the wrong platform was purchased, such as a PC version instead of a Mac version, that can produce an Unsupported operating system error and requires contacting Microsoft support.

If the installer downloads but does not open on the new Mac:

    1. Wait for the download to finish completely.
    2. Move the .pkg installer from Downloads to the desktop and double-click it.
    3. If it still fails, delete the installer, empty Trash, then download again in Safari from Microsoft 365 apps using Install apps.
