    Hello John McDougall,

This usually happens when the Office app is signed in with a different Microsoft account or has retained outdated sign-in credentials.

First, sign in to the Services & subscriptions page and confirm that your Microsoft 365 subscription is active under that exact account.

Then, here what you can do on your iPad:

    1. Open Settings and select the affected Office app, such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
    2. Under Reset, select Reset Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
    3. Enable Delete Login Credentials.
    4. Close the app completely, reopen it, and sign in using the same Microsoft account shown on the Services & subscriptions page.

Please also ensure that the Office apps are updated through the App Store.

If the apps still ask you to subscribe, please confirm which Microsoft 365 subscription you have and whether it was purchased directly from Microsoft or through Apple.

Feel free reply back to this post and update me on this issue, I'll be happy to help.
