I bought the game Minecraft in August after cancelling my Game Pass subscription, the transaction was complete and I was able to play the game as normal and expected. Now, months later, I open up my Minecraft launcher on my PC to find that Minecraft was essentially gone, it doesnt show that I ever bought the game despite having a receipt that clearly shows I did.

The accounts match up all across the board and yet no signs of me having ever bought the game.

I dont know what to do and Id appreciate any help being given my way.

Check the Minecraft purchase in Microsoft account Order history first; its current status determines whether this is a local license-detection problem or an account-level purchase issue.

    1. Check the purchase status

    1. Open Microsoft account → Payment & billing → Order history.
    2. Set Ordered within to include August.
    3. Open the Minecraft order and record:
      • Status
      • Exact edition purchased
      • Order/transaction number
      • Purchase date and payment method

A valid posted purchase should appear as Completed or Redeemed. Microsoft’s order-history documentation also explains how to open and print the order details ^1^.

Then use the matching branch below.

If the order says Completed or Redeemed

Since you have already confirmed that the accounts match, refresh the Store’s local license data rather than repeating account checks:

    1. Close Minecraft Launcher, Xbox app, and Microsoft Store.
    2. Press Windows key + R.
    3. Enter:
         wsreset.exe

    4. Select OK. A blank window should appear briefly; Microsoft Store will then reopen. This resets the Store cache—it does not change or restore the account’s entitlement ^2^.
    5. In Microsoft Store, select See more → Downloads and updates → Get updates.
    6. After updates finish, open See more → My Library → All owned and look for Minecraft. Windows 10 exposes owned products through this Library view ^3^.
    7. Restart the PC, then open the launcher.

Also select the edition shown on the completed order:

    • For Java Edition, choose Minecraft: Java Edition in the launcher.
    • For Bedrock Edition, choose Minecraft for Windows.
    • Do not use a Buy button displayed for a different edition.

An edition mismatch can make one launcher entry show Buy even though the purchased edition is owned ^4^.

If the completed order still is not recognized, this requires private account-level entitlement verification. Contact Microsoft Support, select Get Help, and then Contact Support. Provide the order number, purchase date, exact edition, and a screenshot of the launcher—but do not post those details publicly ^5^.

If the order has another status

    • Disputed charges: A chargeback can cause the license to be removed while the payment dispute is being decided. Resolve it with Microsoft purchase support and the cardholder/bank ^6^.
    • Cancelled, refunded, or absent: The receipt alone may not represent an active entitlement. Give Support the receipt and transaction ID so they can locate the transaction.
    • The email now belongs to a newly recreated account: Purchases remain attached to the original Microsoft account; creating another account with the same email address does not restore the Minecraft license ^7^. In that case, ask Xbox/Minecraft Support to investigate the original account using the transaction ID. A Minecraft license cannot normally be transferred to another Microsoft account ^8^.

Do not buy Minecraft again while the original transaction is being investigated.
