A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Reset the OneDrive Android app by clearing its data and reinstalling it, then sign in and create a new app-lock PIN.
Reset OneDrive
Before clearing the app, confirm on OneDrive on the web or another synced device that important files have uploaded. Clearing app data removes OneDrive’s local settings and may remove offline copies; files already stored in OneDrive remain in the cloud.
You will also need your Microsoft account email address and password to sign in again.
- Open Android Settings.
- Select Applications or Apps.
- Select Manage applications if that option appears.
- Find and select OneDrive.
- Tap Force stop.
- Open Storage, then tap Clear data and Clear cache.
- Uninstall OneDrive.
- Reinstall it from Google Play and sign in with your Microsoft account.
Microsoft identifies uninstalling and reinstalling as the Android reset method. ^1^
Create a new PIN and restore fingerprint access
After signing in:
- Tap your profile picture/person icon.
- Select Settings.
- Select Passcode or App lock.
- Enable Require code and enter a new six-digit code twice.
- Enable Use fingerprint to authenticate.
OneDrive’s Android passcode settings provide options to change the code, set its timeout, and enable fingerprint authentication. ^2^
If the phone still rejects your fingerprint outside OneDrive, update or re-enroll it through Android’s device security settings before enabling it again in OneDrive.
If sign-in fails after reinstalling
- For a personal Microsoft account, use Microsoft account recovery or contact Microsoft Support.
- For a work or school account, contact your organization’s IT helpdesk or Microsoft 365 administrator.
- If OneDrive opens but the lock problem persists, open the app and use its support/feedback option to report the issue.
