    Hello Mikeo Cyndyeo,

Could you please share a screenshot of Settings > Personalization > Lock screen, showing the weather option that cannot be enabled?

    Also:

    • Press Windows + R, type winver, and share the Windows version and OS build shown.
    • Confirm whether Weather and more is greyed out, missing entirely, or selectable but not appearing on the lock screen.
    • Let us know whether this is a personal PC or one managed by work or school.

If possible, also test it from a temporary local Windows account. If it works there, the issue is likely limited to the current user profile rather than Windows generally.

In Windows 10, restore lock-screen weather by selecting Weather and more as the app that shows detailed status.

    Turn weather back on

    1. Select Start → Settings.
    2. Open Personalization → Lock screen.
    3. Find Choose one app to show detailed status on the lock screen.
    4. Select its app icon, then choose Weather and more.
    5. Press Windows key + L to lock the PC and test it.

This setting works with Windows spotlight, Picture, or Slideshow backgrounds. “Weather and more” can display weather along with finance, sports, traffic, and other cards; Windows 10 does not provide controls for choosing individual cards in that group.^1^

If the option is present but disabled or cannot be selected

Since the selector itself is unavailable, update Windows and its Store apps rather than repeatedly trying the same control:

    1. Open Start → Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
    2. Select Check for updates, install everything offered, and restart.
    3. Open Microsoft Store and select Check for Updates to update installed apps.^2^
    4. Return to Settings → Personalization → Lock screen and try selecting Weather and more again.

If a relevant app still appears damaged:

    1. Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
    2. Select the weather-related app and choose Advanced options.
    3. Select Repair first.
    4. If Repair is unavailable or does not help, select Reset. Reset can remove that app’s saved data and preferences.^3^

If this is a work- or school-managed PC, an administrator policy might restrict personalization; contact the device administrator if the setting remains greyed out after updates.

Note: Microsoft ended free Windows 10 software updates and technical support on October 14, 2025. The PC will continue to work, but moving to Windows 11 is recommended where the hardware supports it.^1^
