Try recreating the exact Outlook.com address immediately from the alias settings of the same Microsoft account; a recent accepted Microsoft Q&A answer reports that this can sometimes work, although Microsoft’s published policy still treats removal as permanent.
Try the same-account recovery now
This is possible to attempt only if another alias still lets you sign in to the original Microsoft account.
- Open https://account.live.com/names/manage and sign in using another alias belonging to that same account.
- Select Add email.
- Choose Create a new email address and add it as an alias.
- Enter the exact Outlook.com name that was deleted.
- If it is accepted, add it and, if desired, select Make primary beside it.
The standard Microsoft procedure for adding an alias uses Your info → Manage how you sign in to Microsoft → Add email.^1^
A closely matched accepted Q&A answer reports that a deleted Outlook.com address may now be recreated this way on the same Microsoft account, provided another alias remains available for sign-in.^2^ This is an undocumented report, not a guaranteed recovery method, and it conflicts with Microsoft’s published removal warning.
If an alias-frequency error appears
If Microsoft specifically says, “We limit how frequently you can add aliases to your account,” wait until the limit resets and try the same steps again. The accepted Q&A case reports a seven-day wait after reaching the applicable alias-change limit.^2^
Do not wait seven days merely because the deletion was recent; try now unless the site displays that frequency-limit error.
If the address is rejected
Microsoft’s documented policy says removing an alias from a Microsoft-owned domain such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com permanently deletes that address and it cannot be reclaimed.^3^ The same warning is quoted in a closely matched Outlook.com alias-deletion case.^4^
If the exact address remains unavailable:
- Add a different Outlook.com alias to preserve access to the existing Microsoft account.
- Update services that used the deleted address, because messages sent to it may no longer reach the mailbox.
- Contact Microsoft Support through Get Help → Contact Support for confirmation. Support agents are not permitted to access or change account details, so escalation does not provide a documented way to restore the alias.^5^
