Changing between multiple Microsoft Teams accounts within the app or browser
To leave an organization where the account is a guest:
- Open the My Account page.
- Work or school account:
https://myaccount.microsoft.com - Personal account or email one-time passcode: use a tenant-specific My Account URL. A private browser session might be needed.
- Work or school account:
- Select Organizations in the left pane, or Manage organizations.
- Under Other organizations you collaborate with, find the old organization and select Leave.
- Confirm by selecting Leave again.
Important points:
- The Home organization cannot be left by the user. Only an administrator can remove that account.
- If Leave is missing or a message says permission is required, that external organization has disabled self-service leaving, or the guest account is disabled. In that case, the organization’s admin or privacy contact must remove the guest account.
- Leaving a team in Teams is not the same as leaving the organization. Leaving the team does not remove the guest account from the organization directory.
- If the old organization is causing Teams sign-in conflicts, managing and leaving it from My Account or from Teams View account > Organizations is the supported path.
- Leaving an organization deletes associated data for that organization. If it is done by mistake, the organization admin would need to invite the account again.
