Hello, I understand that you are looking into backing up the photos from your phone to OneDrive.

As an alternative and if you have already tons or thousands of photos or if you only want to backup specific ones then you can check the below and this also includes the Microsoft support link.

    1. Open the OneDrive app.
    2. Go through, check or create the folder where you want your photos stored.
    3. Tap the + sign or the add button.
    4. Select or click Upload.
    5. Browse the photos or videos you want to back up.
    6. Select or click the files and confirm the upload.

To back up photos from a Samsung S25 Ultra to OneDrive, use OneDrive Camera backup:

    1. Open the OneDrive app on the phone.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that should store the photos.
    3. Tap the account image/profile at the top left.
    4. Select Camera backup or tap Turn on if it shows that camera backup is off.
    5. Confirm the correct account is selected. Camera backup can only be used on one account at a time.
    6. Tap Confirm.
    7. Allow OneDrive access to Photos and Videos when prompted.

After that, new photos and videos will upload automatically.

If photos from other folders should also be backed up, such as Screenshots or social media folders:

    1. In the OneDrive app, tap the account image.
    2. Go to Settings > Camera backup.
    3. Tap Back up device folders.
    4. Choose the folders to include.

    Important details:

    • The camera roll backup backs up photos to OneDrive; it does not sync both ways.
    • Photos deleted from the device do not delete the copies already backed up in OneDrive.
    • Make sure OneDrive has enough available storage.
    • If backup is not working, check that Camera backup is on, the correct account is selected, storage is available, and the phone has a strong internet connection.
    • On Samsung devices, Samsung Gallery/OneDrive linking is changing. As of May 1, 2026, new users can no longer link Samsung Gallery directly to OneDrive, and existing linked users should use OneDrive camera roll backup to continue backing up photos after September 30, 2026.
