Is it possible to send an email to a group of people but have the email received individually (without knowing it was sent to others or having the other email addresses listed)?

    Hi Nina,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you would like to send an email to multiple recipients at the same time without allowing them to see the email addresses of the other recipients.

You can use the Bcc field to do this:

    1. Click Mail > New Mail.
    2. In the email compose window, click Bcc.

    1. In the Bcc field, enter or select the email addresses of the people you want to send the email to.
    2. After the email is sent, recipients added to the Bcc field will not be able to see the email addresses of the other recipients in the Bcc field.

You can refer to the following document for more information:

In new Outlook for Windows, select New mail, address the recipients, then open the arrow beside Send and choose Start mail merge to send each person a separate copy without displaying the other recipients.

    Send genuinely individual copies

    1. Select New mail and compose the message.
    2. Add everyone who should receive it.
    3. Select the arrow next to Send.
    4. Select Start mail merge and complete the send.

Each recipient receives a separate copy with no other recipients listed.^1^

New Outlook’s basic mail merge does not insert personalized contact fields, such as a different greeting for each recipient.^2^

Simpler alternative: hide recipients with Bcc

If separate messages are unnecessary and the goal is only to keep addresses private:

    1. Create a new message.
    2. Select Options → Show fields → Show Bcc.
    3. Put your own address in To.
    4. Put all recipients—or your contact list—in Bcc.
    5. Compose and send the message.

Bcc recipients cannot see the other addresses on the Bcc line.^3^

    The distinction is:

    • Start mail merge: creates a separate copy for each recipient.
    • Bcc: sends one message to multiple recipients while hiding their addresses.

For larger distributions, mail merge is generally the better match for an “individually received” message. Both methods remain subject to the sending limits imposed by the email service.
