Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Just to briefly clarify before we go any further, I and other members of the community do not have access to user account settings, and cannot assist with logging in, changing access rights or directly escalate cases to the Data Protection team. For security and privacy reasons, connecting to the team requires opening a support request.
To open a support request in this situation, you can choose one of the options below:
Option 1: Find Microsoft's support numbers for your region and call the support hotline here:
Contact Microsoft customer support | Microsoft Support (Work account tab)
When contacting Microsoft, be prepared to verify ownership of the subscription. You may be asked for information such as:
- Organization name
- Billing or payment information
- Registered phone number
- Alternate email address
Tips for navigating the IVR:
In some countries, an automated voice system is used. Example of a dialogue:
- IVR: What problem is bothering you?
- Client: Lost access to the only admin account
- IVR: What product do you use?
- Customer: Office 365 for business
- IVR: School or Business Account?
- Client: Companies
- IVR: Are you an administrator?
- Client: Yes
- IVR: Is there another administrator in your organization?
- Client: No. I am the only admin in my tenant
- IVR: Do you need to create a support ticket?
- Client: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me directly to the Data Protection Team.
I also recommend calling during business hours. In my experience, it can be difficult to get through to the correct support queue, and automated systems don't always work as expected. If you can't get through on your first try, I suggest trying again later or at a different time.
After access to your directly billed tenant is restored, you can then:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center to turn off recurring billing.
- Create another support ticket to Microsoft Billing team for a refund review.
Option 2: In case you are unable to contact the frontline support:
1/ Try asking the administrator of your GoDaddy-managed Microsoft 365 tenant and ask whether they can submit a Microsoft support request on your behalf.
2/ If the admin was not able to assist, consider signing up for a trial subscription to create a new tenant (Select "Try for free" under a business subscription). Once set up, you can access the new tenant's admin console and submit a support ticket to speak with the data protection team on behalf of the previous tenant. Once your issue is resolved, please remember to cancel the trial subscription to avoid any unintended charges.
I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
