I have had the Xbox gamepass in the past on my pc however I did not use it and cancelled my subscription multiple times. Despite cancelling the subscription and the app saying that it was cancelled the charge was still given and I am wondering if I can refund this charge. The payment history also does not show the recent transaction, and the subscription is still not active.

    Hello,

Welcome to the Microsoft Windows Community.

Good afternoon. Please sign in to your Microsoft account, go to the "Order history" tab, and check if you can find the subscription. If not, you will need to contact dedicated support so that a Microsoft agent from the Accounts Department can investigate the charges.:

    1. Visit this link: Contact – Microsoft Support: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact

Enter a brief description of your issue in the search box.

Scroll to the bottom of the page -> select "Sign in to contact support."

Sign in using another available personal Microsoft account.

Under Products and Services, select "Other Products"; under Categories, select "Manage account security" and click Confirm.

Click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (Available during business hours only).

I hope these guidelines help you resolve the issue. If possible, please come back and share the outcome. Your feedback may also help other community members facing a similar situation.

Because the Game Pass subscription is already inactive and the charge is missing from Order history, investigate the payment from the Microsoft account dashboard first, then contact Microsoft billing support if it cannot be matched.

    Trace the missing charge

    1. Sign in to Manage your payments with the Microsoft account previously used for Game Pass:
      https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882
    2. Select Investigate beside the unrecognized charge or payment method. Microsoft lists possible explanations such as a recurring subscription, a purchase by a family member, or a previously declined payment being charged again.^1^
    3. Check Order history at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders:
      • Sign in to every personal Microsoft account that may have used that payment method.
      • Select Payment & billing > Order history.
      • Under Refine, expand the date range covering the bank transaction.
      • Look for Completed, Redeemed, or In progress entries. An in-progress charge has not yet posted to the payment method.^2^

Do not cancel the subscription again; it is already shown as inactive.

    Request the appropriate refund

If the investigation identifies the transaction as an Xbox Game Pass subscription charge, use the Xbox subscription cancellation and refund process:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/cancel-recurring-billing-or-subscription

Eligibility depends on the subscription, cancellation timing, and country or region. The cancellation or management process indicates whether the subscription qualifies for a refund; not every cancellation produces one.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")

Do not use the digital-games refund form unless the transaction turns out to be a game or app purchase rather than Game Pass. Microsoft treats Xbox subscription refunds and digital-game refunds as separate processes.

If no transaction can be found

Contact Microsoft Support at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2258619 and:

    1. Enter charged for cancelled Xbox Game Pass, charge missing from Order history.
    2. Select Get Help, then Contact Support.
    3. Provide the charge date, amount, payment-method type, bank-statement description, and the Microsoft accounts checked. Do not post full card or account numbers publicly.

Support must trace the payment because a public Q&A forum cannot access billing records. If the charge is not recognized after investigation or the payment details may have been compromised, contact the bank or payment provider to prevent further charges; merely disputing one transaction may not prevent another.^1^
