    Hello,

Please wait 4 hours, and the option will typically appear.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. On the Windows sign-in screen, select Sign-in options and choose the password option if it appears. For Windows Safe Mode, only the password option works; PIN and biometric options are unavailable.
    2. Make sure the PC is connected to the internet from the lock screen:
      • Select the Network icon on the sign-in screen.
      • Connect to Wi-Fi, or use Ethernet if available.
      • Then try signing in again with the Microsoft account password.
    3. If the account shows "You tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password", stop repeated attempts. This error can happen after too many incorrect sign-ins, if someone else is trying the wrong account details, or if there is an app, browser, device, or network issue.
    4. If the password is correct but sign-in still fails, recover the Microsoft account password:
      • Use Recover your account.
      • Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
      • Choose where to receive the security code.
      • Enter the code, then set a new password.
      • When entering the account name, verify the correct email domain such as .com vs .co.uk, and check for spelling differences.
    5. If passkey is unavailable, that can happen on devices that do not have screen lock enabled, on older operating systems or browsers that do not fully support passkeys, or during device/connectivity issues. If using a new device, passkeys may need to be set up again.
    6. If normal sign-in still does not work, start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking:
      • On the sign-in screen, select Power > Restart.
      • When the sign-in screen appears, hold Shift while selecting Power > Restart.
      • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
      • After restart, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
      • Try signing in with the Microsoft account password.
    7. If Windows signs in with a temporary profile or shows "We can't sign in to your account", save any new files created in that session to external storage first, because changes made in a temporary profile are lost when signing out. Then:
      • Restart in Safe Mode and sign in with the original profile.
      • Restart normally and try again.
      • More than one restart may be needed.
    8. If the issue continues, try signing in with a different account on the device, if one exists. After signing in, check for Windows updates and review the existing accounts.
    9. If the Microsoft account still cannot be found or still cannot sign in after recovery, contact support.
