I know how worrying this is, Margy Phipps.

As the AI answer mentioned, there can be a delay before the renewed storage is reflected on the account. Since you made the payment yesterday, I’m just wondering how long it has been? And whether your storage/access has updated since you posted this? Please check the subscription itself and to prepare proof if you need to contact support:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account Services & subscriptions.
    2. Make sure you are signed in with the affected Microsoft account.
    3. Confirm the subscription's status is Active (take a screenshot if needed).

If more than 24 hours have passed and the subscription/storage still has not updated, this is something needed to be checked on the account side. Since Microsoft is just a user-to-user support forum with no access to the internal process, you would need to reach out to Microsoft Support directly:

    1. Sign in with your account at Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    2. Enter / choose an issue > click Get Help to make a request
    3. Scroll down > click Ask our Support Assistant and follow guidance
    4. If the issue persists, specifically state in the chat box that you need direct help.
    5. The Contact Support button should appear > click it > select the chat in browser option.

    User's image

Note: The support contact team only works at certain times, so if the last window shows that it's unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. This way, they can call you and help you. If you don't see chat option, choose another category and ask to escalate.

Hope the storage has already caught up by now! But if it has passed the waiting point, I’d go directly through the support route above so they can check the payment and subscription status on the account.

It can take up to 24 hours for storage allowances or a subscription to update after payment.

    What to do now:

    1. Go to Manage your storage and check whether the subscription is visible.
    2. If the subscription was renewed because a Microsoft 365 subscription had expired, the storage should return to the subscribed amount after renewal.
    3. If the account was over quota, email can remain blocked until the storage update is applied or enough space is freed.
    4. If emails sent during the blocked period were returned, those messages must be resent by the sender after storage is available again.
    5. If the storage still has not updated after 24 hours, contact Microsoft Support.

If the subscription had expired before renewal, these effects can occur while over the free 5 GB quota:

    • OneDrive files remain, but new uploads, edits, and sync are blocked.
    • Outlook.com email can be blocked from sending and receiving.
    • After renewal, the account returns to the subscribed storage amount.
