Have you successfully canceled your personal subscription (as suggested by the AI-generated reply)?

    Hello Gordon,

For requesting a refund, I highly suggest directly contacting live Microsoft Support to process it for you. To do that, you may refer to the steps below:

    1. Go to this link:  https://support.microsoft.com/contactus and sign in your Microsoft account
    2. On the "Tell us your problem so we can get you the right help and support" - just type "Billing issue" then search
    3. You will see Recommended Solution, just scroll down until you can see "Contact support"
    4. Under "Tell us a little more about your problem", select "Microsoft 365 and Office"
    5. For Category select > manage my subscription > then confirm
    6. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser
    7. Confirm your account and you should be routed to Microsoft support representative who have the appropriate tools and resources to investigate and assist you further with the billing concern.

Please note that processing a refund may have specific conditions before doing so such as threshold days from the date of purchase.

To get a refund for a Microsoft 365 subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, cancel the subscription first. Refund eligibility is checked automatically during cancellation.

    Steps:

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy the subscription.
    2. Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Cancel or Cancel subscription. In some cases it may show Upgrade or Cancel.
    4. Follow the prompts on the cancellation pages. During this process, Microsoft indicates whether the subscription qualifies for a refund.

    Important details:

    • Not all cancellations result in a refund.
    • In most cases, a refund may be available within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner.
    • A refund of the most recent recurring billing charge may also be available if cancellation happens within 30 days after that payment. This is limited to one time per Microsoft account, per subscription product.
    • If no refund is issued, access to Microsoft 365 usually continues until the end of the current billing period.
    • If the page shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage or Cancel, the subscription is already set to expire and no further cancellation action is needed.

If the subscription was purchased through Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, the refund must be requested from that provider, not Microsoft.
