    English-only support.

For a work or school account, if Microsoft Authenticator is asking for a code from the same app and no code arrives, use this path:

    1. Try another sign-in method if one is offered.
      • If another MFA method is available, use it to get back in.
    2. Check the Authenticator app itself.
      • Make sure the app is unlocked.
      • Make sure notifications are enabled and not silent.
      • Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version.
      • Check internet connectivity. Switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data can help.
      • Make sure the device date and time are correct.
    3. If sign-in fails with a temporary Authenticator issue, wait a few minutes and try again.
      • Open the app and confirm it launches normally and the account is listed.
      • Restart the device.
    4. If there were many failed attempts, stop retrying repeatedly.
      • Microsoft Entra MFA can block additional attempts after unusual activity or repeated sign-ins.
      • Wait until sign-in is allowed again, or use a different MFA method.
    5. If no alternative method is available, contact the organization’s IT admin or help desk.
      • For work or school accounts, the admin may need to clear or reset the MFA settings so registration can be done again.
      • If the phone was lost or replaced, the help desk can clear the old settings and prompt a new two-step verification setup at next sign-in.
    6. If the issue continues after the checks above, send Authenticator logs.
      • In the app, open the top-level menu and select Send feedback.
      • Then reach out to the IT admin.
