    Hello,

    1. May I please know which version of macOS is currently installed on your Mac mini? For example, is it running macOS Tahoe, Sequoia, Sonoma, or an older version?
    2. What is the exact error message you receive when you try to sign/activate Office applications on your Mac?

Meanwhile, please make sure your Mac meets the system requirements to run Microsoft Office 365 applications.

    • Your Mac should be running macOS 12 (Monterey) or later.

Note: If you are running an older version, such as macOS 11 or earlier, unfortunately, you may no longer be able to activate Microsoft Office applications due to recent changes to Microsoft’s security certificates.

For a Mac mini that still will not activate after delete/reinstall, while another Mac activates correctly, the most likely causes are leftover license data, account mismatch, or Mac-specific keychain/permission issues.

    Try this in order:

    1. Verify the correct account has the license.
      • Sign out of Office, then sign back in with the Microsoft account associated with the Microsoft 365 subscription.
      • Check the subscription at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • If no Office license appears there, that is not the correct account for activation.
    2. Reset Office credentials in Keychain.
      • Open Spotlight.
      • Search for and open Keychain or Keychain Access.
      • Search for Office.
      • Delete the data license file.
    3. Run the Office license removal tool.
      • Download and run the license removal tool.
      • Caution: confirm the correct account to reactivate with before removing licenses.
      • After the tool finishes, open an Office app and sign in again with the licensed account.
      • Restart the Mac after successful activation.
    4. If Office keeps asking to sign in or shows Authentication Expired, check for keychain permission issues.
      • This can happen if Office was moved from the default /Applications folder.
      • Follow the keychain access reset guidance in the Microsoft article for repeated keychain prompts.
    5. If the Mac name contains unusual characters and activation shows error 0xD000001c, rename the Mac.
      • Go to Apple icon > System Preferences > Sharing.
      • Update the Computer Name to remove invalid characters.
      • Restart the Mac and try activation again.
    6. If activation says the wrong license is attached, remove license files and reactivate with the intended subscription.
    7. If this is a one-time purchase scenario and activation says purchase is confirmed but still cannot activate, check the Macintosh HD > Library > PriviligedHelperTools folder.
      • If it shows a red stop icon, fix folder permissions.
      • If it is accessible but empty, uninstall and reinstall Office, then activate again.
      • Note: changing permissions or using Terminal may require local admin privileges.

Because reinstalling already did not help, the strongest next step is: verify the licensed account, clear Keychain Office entries, then run the license removal tool and reactivate.
