A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
This usually happens when the storage quota shown in OneDrive has not refreshed to the Microsoft 365 Personal entitlement, or OneDrive is signed in with a different Microsoft account than the one that owns the subscription.
Try this in order:
- Confirm the subscription is active.
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services?ref=officesupport
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Microsoft 365 Personal.
- Verify the subscription is active.
- Check the storage quota directly.
- Open Manage storage: https://onedrive.live.com/?v=managestorage
- Refresh the page and check whether the quota shows the included storage from the subscription.
- Storage changes can take up to 24 hours to appear after purchase or account changes.
- Verify the same account is being used on both devices.
- On desktop OneDrive, make sure the signed-in account is the same Microsoft account that appears on the subscription.
- On Samsung Android, open the OneDrive app, tap Me, and check the account shown at the top. If the wrong account is shown, switch accounts or add the personal Microsoft account that has the subscription.
- If the quota still has not updated after 24 hours, unlink and relink OneDrive.
- This is recommended when additional storage is not visible after waiting.
- Check whether Outlook.com or OneDrive storage is full.
- If either the Outlook.com mailbox or OneDrive storage is full, email can be affected, and OneDrive can stop normal operation.
- OneDrive also counts files, photos, and items in the Recycle Bin toward the quota.
- Free up space or restore the subscription quota.
- If the account is still over quota, OneDrive will stop uploading, editing, or syncing new files, and existing files become read-only.
- Delete files or empty the Recycle Bin, or wait for the subscription quota to update.
- If purchased extra storage or the Microsoft 365 entitlement still does not appear after 24–48 hours, contact Microsoft Support.
- Personal account support is available through Contact Microsoft Support.
- On mobile, support can also be contacted from the OneDrive app by opening the app and gently shaking the device.
Important behavior when over quota:
- OneDrive cannot upload, edit, or sync new files while over the storage limit.
- After 3 months over the limit, the OneDrive account can be frozen.
- After 6 months, files may be deleted and become non-recoverable.
