I am using surface laptop 7 arm processor with snapdragon. The laptop had an issue and was replaced during warranty and now warranty is gone. There is an issue going on in my laptop and it is restarting very frequently with this message "Device encontered a problem and needs to restart" and at the bottom there will an error code and each time it is different. This is not blue screen and instead black screen with surface logo coming up and the system restarts. When I try to reset or download and install software, it is not letting me and is getting shut down. Not able to install new windows software or perform reset.

Frequent black-screen restarts with different stop codes, inability to complete a reset, and failure to install software point to a serious Windows, driver, firmware, or hardware problem. On a Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon/ARM, use this order:

    1. Force a shutdown and restart
Press and hold the power button until the device shuts down and restarts and the Windows logo appears again, about 20 seconds, then release it.
    2. If Windows starts, install all updates immediately
Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
On ARM-based Surface devices, keeping Windows 11 updated is specifically recommended because Windows on ARM continues to improve through updates.
    3. Treat the stop-code restarts as a hardware/driver/software fault
Unexpected restarts and stop code errors can be caused by a hardware device, its driver, or software. The stop code shown at the bottom of the screen helps identify the cause.
    4. If the device cannot stay on long enough to reset or reinstall Windows, use a USB recovery drive
Start the Surface using a USB recovery drive:
      • Shut down the Surface.
      • Insert the USB recovery drive into the USB port.
      • Press and hold volume-down while pressing and releasing power.
      • When the Surface logo appears, release volume-down.
This is the documented recovery path when Surface is stuck in startup or recovery problems and normal reset does not complete.
    5. Use a Surface-specific recovery image path, not a generic Windows install path
For Surface Laptop 7 on Snapdragon/ARM, a generic Windows image may not work correctly. A Surface-specific recovery image is the relevant path called out for this model family.
    6. If Windows still does not start after USB recovery, move to service/repair
If recovery does not restore startup, the documented next step is Device Service and Repair / service order / in-person support. Since the device was already replaced once and now cannot reliably boot, reset, or install software, further normal troubleshooting is unlikely to be enough.
    7. Before any repair attempt, back up important files if the device stays on long enough
Repeated restart behavior can worsen, and repair or recovery can risk data loss.
