I renewed my microsoft 365 subscription on my Mac in July 2026. I can use Outlook of but the rest of the application (excel, powerpoint, word) all keep asking to sign in. I have checked that my Mac OS and microsoft apps are all current. My subscription seems faulty

On Mac, this usually means the desktop apps are not signed in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription, or the local Office sign-in/license state is stuck.

    Try this in order:

    1. Confirm the subscription is active on the correct Microsoft account
      • Go to Services & subscriptions: https://account.microsoft.com/services
      • Sign in with the Microsoft account used to buy or renew Microsoft 365.
      • Verify that Microsoft 365 is listed as active.
      • If no license appears, that is not the correct account. Search email accounts for the Microsoft purchase confirmation and use that account instead.
    2. Sign out of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, then sign back in
      • Open one of the apps.
      • Sign out.
      • Sign back in with the same Microsoft account confirmed in step 1.
      • If needed, choose Sign in with another account.
    3. If the apps keep asking to sign in or show “Authentication Expired”
      • This can happen on Mac when Office repeatedly requests sign-in or keychain access.
      • Follow the steps in Microsoft 365 or Office for Mac repeatedly requesting keychain access to reset keychain permissions.
    4. If the renewal was recent, check whether payment/account status still needs attention
    5. If the subscription was bought through Apple and error 1303 appears
      • Sign out of Office.
      • Sign back in with the Microsoft account used when the subscription was purchased.
      • Then use Restore previous purchase for Office for Mac.
    6. If it still fails, reinstall Office from the subscription account
      • Uninstall the existing Office apps on the Mac.
      • Go back to https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • Sign in with the same subscription account.
      • Select Install to reinstall Office so the apps are linked to the correct account.
    7. Temporary workaround
      • The web apps at Office.com can still be used while the Mac apps are being fixed.

If the issue continues after these steps, use Contact us or Contact Support from the Microsoft support pages.

There are some on-going problems reported with the Office apps on an Apple Mac device being reported.

At the top left of your Mac desktop, click the Apple icon and select 'About this Mac', what version of MacOS is installed on your computer?
