Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
For a Microsoft 365 home subscription, the steps depend on where the subscription is billed.
If the subscription was bought from Microsoft:
- Sign in to your Services & subscriptions page at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
- Select Change how you pay.
- If the preferred option is not listed, select Add a new way to pay and follow the prompts.
Important limits:
- If Change how you pay does not appear, recurring billing is likely turned off. In that case, the subscription is already paid through the current term and the payment method cannot be changed until renewal.
- If the subscription is prepaid, the payment method cannot be changed for that subscription. Payment info can be updated and a new subscription can be bought after the prepaid term expires.
- If the subscription was bought through a third party such as Apple, Google, Amazon, or another retailer, billing and payment method changes must be done with that provider directly.
If adding a new payment method fails:
- Check with the bank if an error appears while adding the new payment method.
- If the subscription does not appear on the account after signing in, verify that the correct Microsoft account is being used.
- If management options are missing or limited, the subscription may be managed by a third party instead of Microsoft.
If the issue continues, use Contact Microsoft Support and select Get Help, then Contact Support.
