To change the legal name used for a Microsoft certification exam:
- Sign in to the Microsoft Learn profile used for the exam.
- Open Settings.
- Go to the Legal Name section.
- Update the name so it matches the government-issued ID exactly.
- If a message says to contact support, submit a ticket to Credentials Support.
If an exam is already booked, the profile may show a message with a link to contact Credentials Support for the booked exam name.
To verify the update, return to the Microsoft Learn profile Settings page and check the Legal Name section.
Accepted ID for the exam:
- One form of original ID
- Valid/unexpired
- Government-issued
- Must include name, photo, and signature
- The first and last name used to register must match the first and last name on the ID exactly
For minor candidates in the Microsoft Office Specialist Championship context:
- The minor candidate may present one unexpired ID with name and photo; it does not need to be government-issued or have a signature.
- A parent or legal guardian must accompany the minor candidate and present an unexpired, government-issued primary ID with name, photo, and signature.
If testing in India, China, or Pakistan, a legitimate resident of that country must present one original, valid, government-issued ID with name, photo, and signature as proof of residence. If an ID exception is needed, or if testing outside the home country/region, contact Pearson VUE support at least three business days before the exam appointment.
