Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
For a Microsoft 365 business subscription payment that still fails even after trying multiple payment methods, use this checklist:
- Verify the card details exactly match the bank records:
- Card number
- Expiration date
- Name on the card
- Billing address, including city, state, and ZIP/postal code
- Confirm the account has enough available funds or credit.
- If there is an outstanding balance, pay it from the Microsoft 365 admin center:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- If using Simplified view, select Subscriptions > View invoices.
- If using Dashboard view, go to Billing > Bills & payments.
- Open the invoice.
- Select Pay your balance.
- Select Next.
- Choose to retry the same payment method, use another payment method, or add a new one.
- Complete the steps, then select Review and pay balance.
- After updating payment information, select Save.
- If trying to add a new card and it is still rejected, check whether the payment method was issued from the same country or region as the tenant. Microsoft 365 business accounts require that match.
- If the card continues to be declined after the details, funds, and country/region match are confirmed, contact the bank. The bank might be blocking the charge or the card might not be active.
- If multiple payment methods that previously worked are now all failing, open a Billing Support request in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center under Support > Help & Support. That scenario can require investigation of billing-profile or payment-validation restrictions that cannot be resolved from the portal alone.
