Use the Microsoft account hacked recovery flow first. The supported path is:
- Start the sign-in helper tool and enter the hacked account’s email address or phone number. It will either show self-help steps or offer the chance to talk to an agent.
- Before changing anything, run a full malware scan on the PC:
- Open Windows Security
- Go to Virus and threat protection
- Select Scan options > Full scan > Scan now
- If access is restored, immediately change or reset the password.
- After that, review account settings that are commonly changed after compromise, especially:
- connected accounts
- forwarding
- automatic replies
If the hacker changed the primary email/sign-in alias, the original address may no longer be recognized by the automated recovery flow. In that case, use Contact Microsoft Support from another Microsoft account that is still accessible:
- Go to Contact Microsoft Support
- Enter the problem and select Get Help
- If needed, select Contact Support to reach the best support option
Important: Microsoft support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access and change account details directly.
If the sign-in helper cannot recover the account, use the account recovery guidance and provide as much identifying information as possible in the recovery process. The available support content also points to help for the Microsoft account recovery form.
