I closed my old account and can't get into my new account with fingerprint or pin. One account is requested for the other and I can't get into either.

    Hello Angellika,

To further investigate this issue, can you please double check if the old account is still signed in to your Windows settings or you have already removed it?

To confirm, you may go to Settings > Accounts > Your Info

If the old Microsoft account was closed, it can only be reopened during the 30-day or 60-day grace period. To reopen it, sign in at Sign in and complete the security code check. If that grace period has passed, the old account can no longer be reopened.

For the Windows 11 sign-in problem on the new account:

    1. At the sign-in screen, choose Sign-in options.
    2. Select Password instead of fingerprint or PIN.
    3. Enter the password for the new Microsoft account.
    4. If the password was changed recently, Windows 11 requires one successful password sign-in before Windows Hello PIN and fingerprint work again.
    5. After signing in, go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
    6. Reconfigure Windows Hello:
      • Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello) > Remove or Add another
      • PIN (Windows Hello) > I forgot my PIN if needed

If fingerprint is failing but password works, sign in with the PIN first if available, then:

    • Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello)
    • Select Add another to enroll the finger again, or Remove and then Set up

If neither PIN nor fingerprint works, use the sign-in screen links:

    • I forgot my password
    • I forgot my PIN

If the old account is being requested because Windows is still tied to it, the supported recovery path in the provided guidance is to sign in with the working password for the account currently shown on the sign-in screen, then reset PIN/fingerprint from Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
