Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Try these fixes in order for an Office install error on Windows 11:
- Restart, then install again
- Save work and close all apps.
- Restart the laptop.
- After restart, sign in with the Microsoft account associated with Microsoft 365 and try the install again.
- Use the offline installer instead of Microsoft Store
- The offline installer can bypass proxy, firewall, antivirus, or Internet connection issues that can block Microsoft 365 installation.
- This is especially useful when the install keeps failing after restart.
- Repair any existing Office installation
If part of Office is already present or a previous install failed:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Installed apps.
- Select the Microsoft Office product.
- Choose Modify.
- Select Online Repair > Repair.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
- Check for a partial installation
Some install errors appear near the end even when Office is mostly installed.
- Open Start and look for apps such as Word or Excel.
- If apps are present but not working correctly, run the Online Repair steps above.
- If network restrictions are involved
- Try a wired Internet connection.
- Try installing from another network/location.
- Temporarily turn off proxy settings in Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy and try again.
- If disk space is low
- Free up space on the hard drive, then try the installation again.
