My Microsoft account was hacked, I managed to get control of the account. However, there is a folder created called Email rac which is locked and cannot be deleted.

I’m sorry to hear that your account was compromised. It’s good that you’ve managed to regain access.

Please first sign in to Outlook.com using a web browser and check whether the Email rac folder also appears there. If it does, right-click the folder and select Delete. Please note that deleting the folder will also delete any messages stored inside it.

If the folder appears only in Outlook for Android, open the left navigation pane, select the Edit icon, choose the folder, and then select Delete.

As the account was previously compromised, I also recommend checking your inbox rules, forwarding settings, automatic replies, and recent sign-in activity, then removing anything you do not recognize.

Please let me know whether the folder also appears in Outlook.com and what happens when you try to delete it there.

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me. the folder is there on the desktop site. i have noticed some emails go there. there is a locked key on it so i cannot delete it. this is worrying me.

Hi @Helen

Thank you for confirming. Since the folder is in your mail and emails are being moved there, please go to Settings > Mail > Rules in Outlook.com and delete any rule you do not recognize. Also check Mail > Forwarding for an unfamiliar forwarding address.

Before deleting the folder, please move any emails you wish to keep back to your Inbox. Let me know whether you find a rule linked to the “Email rac” folder and whether the folder remains locked after removing it.
