File History will not run

File History backup will not run after Security Update KB5129195 has been installed. It will run properly if I uninstall the update. Is there a fix for this? I have tried deleting the configuration file in File History and reinstalling File History in my external hard drive but this does not fix the problem.

    Since uninstalling KB5129195 restores File History, your test suggests the update is triggering the problem. I wouldn’t repeat the configuration reset.

    For now, I’d keep the security update installed and manually copy important files into a separate folder on your external drive.

    Please also report this to Microsoft through Feedback Hub: press Windows + F and describe that File History stops working after KB5129195 but works again when you uninstall it. Attach any error screenshot and, if available, use “Recreate my problem” to record the failed backup before submitting.

    You will likely need to uninstall KB5124008 update to fix the issue that it may causes. The KB5124008 update fixes a large number of vulnerabilities, including actively exploited zero‑days. Uninstalling it significantly reduces your security posture, so you should only uninstall it if File History, audio (or other critical features) doesn't work and you need them.     In case you want to uninstall:

    1. Open Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates.
    2. Uninstall KB5124008
