Enterprise Glossary - Paragraph Spacing Issue

Hi Microsoft Support,

We’re looking for some guidance regarding paragraph formatting when bulk importing Enterprise Glossary terms into Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog using CSV.

We have the standard Description field and a Rich Text custom attribute called Business Context, where some values contain multiple paragraphs. When these are imported through CSV, the paragraph spacing/line breaks are not retained, and the content appears as a single paragraph in Purview.

During testing, we found that adding <br> tags between paragraphs retains the spacing correctly. We also tested CSV UTF-8, which preserves special characters, but normal paragraph breaks are still lost unless <br> tags are used.

We understand that for the Classic Glossary, Microsoft documentation provides guidance on using markup tags for rich-text content. However, we couldn’t find equivalent guidance for the Enterprise Glossary in Unified Catalog.

Could you please confirm:

• Is using <br> or other HTML/markup tags the supported approach for retaining paragraph formatting in the Description field and Rich Text custom attributes during Enterprise Glossary CSV imports?
• If not, what is the recommended method for preserving paragraph breaks?
• Is the loss of normal paragraph breaks during CSV import expected behaviour or a known limitation in Unified Catalog?
