Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Hi Regan,
Since you’re using new Outlook, please follow these steps:
Option 1: If you’re using new Outlook, go to:
- Settings > Accounts > Email accounts.
- Locate the other user’s email account.
- Select Manage, then choose Remove account.
- If prompted, choose Remove from this device. This removes the account from Outlook without deleting the actual email account.
- Restart Outlook.
If the mailbox appears under Shared with me, go to Settings > Accounts > Shared with me, expand the mailbox, and select Remove.
Please note that if it was automatically added by your administrator, only the administrator can remove the mailbox permission.
Option 2: If the account cannot be removed directly, you can create a new Outlook profile containing only your own account:
- Close Outlook.
- Open Control Panel and search for Mail.
- Select Mail (Microsoft Outlook) > Show Profiles.
- Select Add, then create a new profile using only your email account.
- Set Always use this profile to the new profile.
- After confirming everything works, return to Show Profiles and remove the old profile.
Please note that removing an account or profile from Outlook does not delete or deactivate the actual email account. It only removes its connection and locally cached data from that computer.
