The Microsoft Learn documentation states that "Tags from Unity Catalog ... are scanned in Microsoft Purview in properties."

Can Microsoft confirm whether these tags are only surfaced as asset properties, or whether they are also mapped to native Purview classifications/tags and remain synchronized after subsequent scans?

From what I am aware, Unity Catalog tags are surfaced in Purview as asset properties during scanning.

I haven't seen any documentation indicating that these tags are automatically mapped to native Purview classifications or custom governance tags, nor that a bidirectional synchronization is maintained after subsequent scans.

My understanding is that the tags remain 'metadata properties' imported from Unity Catalog rather than becoming Purview-managed classifications.
