    Hello MAHADEV KAMBLE,

Just to confirm, do you want to use your phone camera as a webcam on the laptop?

Please also press Windows key + R, type winver, and tell us whether the laptop runs Windows 10 or Windows 11.

    • Windows 11: You may be able to use Microsoft’s built-in connected-camera feature with a compatible Android phone.
    • Windows 10: That Microsoft feature is unavailable, so you would need a third-party webcam app such as DroidCam.

A phone’s regular camera also cannot be used for Windows Hello face sign-in because Windows Hello requires a compatible infrared camera.

I think ur phone’s camera doesn’t show up in Windows Hello because Hello only works with IR cameras. A normal phone camera can’t be used for face sign‑in.

Adding: If you just want to use your phone camera on your laptop, use DroidCam or Microsoft Phone Link. They let the laptop treat the phone camera as a regular webcam.

Try these steps for a Windows device if the camera is not working or is not available for biometric sign-in:

    1. Run the camera troubleshooter in the Get Help app.
      • Open Get Help.
      • Search for camera troubleshooter.
      • Follow the prompts.
    2. Check camera privacy settings.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
      • Turn Camera access On.
      • Turn Let apps access your camera On.
    3. If the issue is in Teams, also make sure Teams has permission.
      • In Settings > Privacy & security > Camera,
      • Under Let apps access your camera, turn on Microsoft Teams (work or school).
      • If it is already on, turn it off and back on.
      • Close apps and restart the device.
    4. On a Surface device, check the Surface app.
      • Open Surface app.
      • Expand Help & support.
      • Check for updates and install any available updates.
      • Use Get help in the app to detect issues.
    5. If Windows Hello says the camera is not compatible with facial recognition:
      • Some devices do not support Windows Hello face.
      • Surface Laptop 13-inch 1st Edition and all Surface Laptop Go models do not support facial recognition and use fingerprint recognition instead.
      • If the device does support facial recognition, install the latest Windows and firmware updates.
    6. Reinstall the camera driver if needed.
      • Warning: Do not do this on Surface Pro X. On that device, uninstalling drivers may require a full system reset to restore them.
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Cameras.
      • If listed, open the camera device, go to Driver, and select Uninstall Device.
      • Select Attempt to remove the driver for this device.
      • Restart the device.
    7. If using a phone camera through Link to Windows:
      • On the phone, open Settings.
      • Find Link to Windows in apps.
      • Make sure camera permission is turned on.
      • If a black placeholder appears, check the Windows taskbar for the camera window and refresh from there.

If the camera is missing from biometric sign-in, the most relevant causes in the available guidance are:

    • camera permissions are off,
    • camera driver problems,
    • missing updates,
    • or the device does not support Windows Hello facial recognition.
