I have a Windows laptop that was permanently given to my sister by her former employer. She no longer has access to that organisation. We performed a complete Windows reset, but during Windows setup the device still requires a work or school account. We believe the device may still be registered with the former employer through Windows Autopilot. We need assistance determining what is required to legitimately release the device from the previous organisation.

Error code 0x8007232B means DNS name does not exist.
Because the laptop is running Windows 11 Education, it was configured to look for the organisation’s on-premises Key Management Service (KMS) activation server. Once the device leaves that corporate network, it cannot find the server to renew its license.
Windows 11 Education licenses generally belong to the school or enterprise and cannot be converted to a personal consumer license.
Once Autopilot is cleared, you will need to either purchase a retail Windows 11 Home or Pro license, or perform a clean installation of Windows 11 Home/Pro using a personal Microsoft account and valid retail digital license.

If you mean that the employer logo shows up during OOBE, you should contact the employer and ask them device hash removal from Microsoft Intune enrollment devices by providing them a serial number of this computer.
