Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Dear @Jim Bold,
To ensure I understand your request correctly and to support you as effectively as possible, I need more specific information from you:
- Could you share a screenshot of the issue?
- Did this issue happen before?
- Do other colleagues experience the same issue?
Based on your description, this appears to be related to a synchronization or autosave behavior in New Outlook, where a stale draft copy may remain after the message has already been sent. First, please confirm whether the affected message appears in Sent Items in Outlook on the web. If it does, the message was sent successfully and the item in Drafts is likely a leftover draft copy.
Before deleting any leftover draft, please verify that the sent message is visible in Outlook on the web, because similar reports indicate that deleting a leftover draft may sometimes affect the corresponding sent item. After confirming the sent copy is safe, please try these steps:
1> Repair or reset New Outlook
On Windows: Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > New Outlook > Advanced options.
Select Repair first.
If the issue continues, select Reset.
2> Remove and re-add the account in New Outlook
In New Outlook: Open Settings > Accounts > Email accounts > manage next to the affected account > Remove the account > Restart New Outlook > Add the account again.
Please also test whether the same behavior occurs in Outlook on the web and Classic Outlook or only in the New Outlook desktop app.
If the issue persists, I recommend you contacting your IT Admin for further assistance. How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support. They can raise a support ticket if the issue still happens. Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn. A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can refer it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.
I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction.
