I've tried to contact a human, the bot has not been helpful for my case as I've already tried account recovery. I made this account to try to get ahold of someone.

Last night around 11:30PM EST, I got tricked and my account has been compromised.

He changed the recovery email (added his own), removed mine and my phone number, then proceeded to change my security question.

I want to know if providing my information privately- if giving old names I've used on said account I created back in 2008 and providing card information used to get xbox live / minecraft would be enough information to prove I am the original account holder. Granted 2 of them weren't my real name, and I remember the two recovery emails I had used. I have safely recovered those. I need to get back in as this account is the only way to prove I own other compromised accounts. This account is my laptops login too.

Compromised account: <PII removed>@live.com

PLEASE I'M DESPERATE!!

~Melanie

For a compromised Microsoft account where the attacker has changed recovery email, phone, and security info, the only supported paths are:

    1. Use the official “hacked/compromised account” guidance Follow the steps in the Microsoft article for compromised accounts to start recovery and secure devices:
      • Go to the “How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account” page and select Start to use the sign-in helper tool.
      • Enter the compromised email address and follow the prompts. The tool will either show self-help options or offer a way to talk to an agent.
How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account
    2. Complete the Microsoft account recovery form (multiple times if needed) If normal reset options no longer work because the attacker changed the security info, use the account recovery form:
      • Go to the account recovery form (linked from the guidance article or via the Sign-in Helper).
      • Use a different, working email that is under control; this is where Microsoft will send updates.
      • Provide as much accurate information as possible, including:
        • Old passwords used on the account.
        • Names of contacts and subject lines of emails previously sent.
        • Approximate dates of account creation and major activity.
        • Details of Microsoft services used with the account (Xbox Live, Minecraft purchases, etc.).
      • The guidance explicitly notes that the form is designed to ask questions only the real owner can answer and is the primary way to verify ownership.
      • If a request is denied, it is allowed to try again up to two times per day. Before retrying, review the guidance on how to fill the form to improve success.
      The documentation confirms:
      • A working alternate email is required.
      • Support agents cannot override security by manually sending reset links or changing account details; they rely on the recovery form results.
    3. Use the Sign-in Helper if the recovery options look unfamiliar If the recovery options shown during password reset are not recognized (because the attacker changed them), use the Sign-in Helper tool referenced in the guidance. It is specifically for cases where the security info no longer matches.
    4. If account recovery fails If the recovery request is unsuccessful:
      • It is possible to keep trying the recovery form (up to two times per day) after reviewing the official guidance video and article.
      • If the additional security information is not recognized and the form cannot be used effectively, the Sign-in Helper is the fallback.
      • The documentation states that, to protect the account and its contents, support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access/change account details outside this process.
    5. When two-step verification or security info was changed The guidance notes that if two-step verification is enabled and none of the verification methods are accessible, or if the attacker has changed the security information, there may be no method to recover the account beyond what the automated systems allow.
    6. Contacting support / talking to a human For additional help (for example, if the recovery form is failing technically or to report criminal activity):
      • Use the Microsoft Support contact options referenced in the articles.
      • Sign in with any other working Microsoft account (or create a new one) to reach support.
      • Use the virtual agent, choose account recovery/security topics, and continue until the option to Chat with a support agent in your web browser or similar appears.
      • Explain that the account is compromised, recovery info was changed, and that the recovery form has already been attempted.
However, even human agents must still follow the same security rules and cannot bypass the automated ownership checks.
    7. If account recovery remains unsuccessful The “Account recovery unsuccessful” guidance confirms:
      • Recovery can be retried as many times as needed, limited to two attempts per day.
      • Reviewing the detailed guidance for the recovery form is strongly recommended before each new attempt.
      • Support agents cannot override security to reset passwords or change account details.

For the specific question about providing old names, card information, and recovery emails: those details should be entered into the official recovery form and related tools. They are exactly the type of information the automated system uses to verify ownership, but they must be submitted through the official channels; they cannot be evaluated or accepted in public forums.
