OneDrive for Mac failed to launch after update

Hi,

My OneDrive failed to launch after the latest App Store update (version 26.078.0426). It said 'OneDrive can't start - there's an error with this application, please download the application on this computer and try again'.

Any idea?

Same for me too. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and resetting it but I get the same thing. Looks like a bad one got out. Hopefully Microsoft will fix it soon.

Also seeing this issue. I did a bunch of troubleshooting after the update on my MacBook this morning and can confirm that none of the usual steps like the ones in the AI answer work. I haven't updated OneDrive on my other Mac and it's still working there. I agree that it looks like a bad update was pushed today.

Same here, bad update altogether. Restoring the app bundle from Time Machine is the only way I've got it to work again.

I just ran into this. The I followed someone else's suggestion and used Time Machine to rollback the app to the previous version. 100% unacceptable. Most likely an AI code change that got pushed to prod. Users should not be trained to fear software updates for applications they need to use everyday.

The same issue occurred to me after updating the OneDrive on my MBA as of this morning. No known solution solves this issue still even after hours of attempts.

Same here: The app-store version offered to update via the green “UPDATE AVAILABLE”.

On my other device (all MacOS 26.5) I use the MS-version via the internal MS365 updater and here no problems.

App-Store: 26.078.0426 (bug)

Internal/MS365 update: 26.074.0420.0001 (works)

We suffer from the same issue here.

Working in an IT-company and we can basically just shake our head and tell the bosses of companies who have to TIme Machine to go back or are simply not skilled enough to work through the web browser with OneDrive to sit still and wait till Microsoft fixes it.
