Hi. I noticed that I was unable to log into my one drive account two days ago. When I tried to log in, it was showing a different recovery email id. I tried to log in using phone number and x.box account but I could not. We made a new login using the same id hoping that it would merge, but instead a new profile was created. The funny thing was that if i went to the onedrive.live.com website, it would take me to the new profile. But if I tried to login using my phone, it would not recognize my id and take me to recover my id page with the different recovery email which is hosted in a different country all together.

I filled the recovery form thrice, with it being rejected every time. The only questions I was asked about were my skype account which I tried to answer as much as possible, but I dont remember too many details about it as I probably last used it in 2015. No other questions were asked where I could prove that the account was indeed mine.

I was able to chat online and my request was escalated. I received a reply yesterday stating that indeed suspicious activity had been noticed and they have now suspended my account all together.

90% of the data was saved on the cloud as recommended to save space locally on the computer. I have several personal documents, professional presentations and 20 years of pictures saved which are now at a risk of being lost.

This is very frustating and scary. Please help me recover my data.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Based on your description, your Microsoft account was compromised. The hacker was able to remove the account's primary email address/security info and replace it with their own email address. When you created a new Microsoft account, your purchased licenses and saved files were not transferred and remain on your previous hacked account.

Since the security info has been replaced by the hacker, I'm afraid there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account, and Microsoft Support cannot help either.

Lastly, based on the message from Microsoft Support, they have suspended your account permanently since they have confirmed that it can no longer be recovered in order to prevent the hacker from using it.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

Darhyl
