Hi, I'm John!

The Microsoft 365 Family Military Appreciation Edition does not support recurring billing.

That’s why you don’t see the option to turn on auto-renew in your Microsoft account.

This version is usually a prepaid discounted subscription, so it needs to be renewed manually each time it expires by purchasing it again.

If you prefer automatic renewal, you would need to switch to the regular Microsoft 365 Family plan.

Should you need further information please let me know.

For Microsoft 365 consumer subscriptions, recurring billing can only be turned on if the subscription is managed directly through a Microsoft account and is not paid with a prepaid code or managed by a third party.

To check why recurring billing is not available and what can be done:

    1. Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the Microsoft 365 Family Military Appreciation Edition.
    2. Locate the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
    3. On the subscription details page:
      • If Turn on recurring billing is available, select it and follow the prompts to set up recurring billing.
      • If only Renew or Resubscribe appears, select that; this both renews the subscription and turns on recurring billing.
      • If Paid with pre-paid card appears next to the expiration date, recurring billing cannot be enabled for this subscription. In that case, renewal must be done by purchasing a new code (for example, from Microsoft Store or the channel where the Military Appreciation Edition is offered) when the current term expires.
      • If there is a renewal date or upcoming charge but no Turn on recurring billing link, recurring billing is already enabled and the subscription will renew automatically on the date shown.
    4. If the subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner (such as a retailer, mobile carrier, Apple App Store, or Google Play), subscription management—including cancelling, renewing, changing payment method, or switching plans—must be done through that partner. In that case, recurring billing options in the Microsoft account may be limited or unavailable.

If none of the above options appear and the subscription is not marked as prepaid or third‑party, verify that the correct Microsoft account is being used; if still unavailable, renewal will need to be done manually (for example, by entering a new product key or code at renewal time) as described in the renewal guidance.
