2026-08-03T01:00:27.4233333+00:00 Open Device Manager.
Expand Cameras
If the camera is missing entirely or has a warning icon, select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
If it still doesn't appear, install the latest firmware and drivers for your Surface through Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates (if available), then restart.
Test the camera in the built-in Camera app rather than Zoom or Teams.
If the Camera app also reports that the camera is blocked and there is no physical privacy shutter or camera hotkey on your model, the issue is more likely to be a firmware or hardware problem than a setting. In that case, please tell us:
Which Surface Laptop model do you have (Surface Laptop 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc.)?
Does the camera appear under Device Manager > Cameras, or is it missing?
Does the Camera app show an error code (for example, 0xA00F4244 or 0xA00F4271)?
