How to sign if you get 0x80070422 error message and cannot give feedback because that fails, too?

I'm in a sign-in error loop. When I use the sign-in checker, it says that my personal email sign-in is working. However, when I sign in to my computer, I immediately get an error message: 0x80070422, so I do not have access to my personal emails, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, etc. If I try to sign in to any Microsoft product, it sends the same error message as above. Microsoft Teams, for example, asks me to sign in with my work email. I recently deleted my work email from Windows as I haven't worked for the company for many years. When I try to sign in with my work email to get help with signing in, the Microsoft message states 'The email or username you entered does not exist'. How do I stop Microsoft products from requiring a work email sign-in? I had my personal email account long before I received the work email account.

Hi Susan,

Launch services.msc

Double-click Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant

Set its start type to Manual. Click Apply.

Start the service.

Let me know if that fixes the problem.

    Hello Susan W,

Thanks for sharing this with me.

If that is not interferes with any of your work, you can ignore it if needed.

Most of the time it happens because your old work account credentials are still on the computer. You can follow these steps to see if it can be removed.

    • Go to Settings > Account > Access work or school
    • Remove any account in that list.
    • Type "Credentials Manager" in the search bar and press Enter.
    • Remove any entries related to your old work account.
    • Restart your computer.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
