Why is Outlook calendar on android not letting me add new events in the future?

Until yesterday, if I wanted to add an event into my Outlook calendar on android for any day after today I simply clicked on the date and added the event. Today 24 Jan when I click on a date, eg 5 Feb, the calendar goes to that date but when I click the + to add the event it goes back to today's date. Howevet. If I add the 5 Feb event on my Google calendar it does sync and appear in Outlook. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I have uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled and cleared caches but the problem still persists.

    Dear Robert and Sandra Taylor

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you are having problems adding future events in Outlook for Android—the calendar jumps back to “Today” when you tap +—while adding in Google Calendar syncs back correctly. I am happy to assist you. Have you tried the Q&A AI Assist steps ? If you have tried and failed, please follow these steps instead:

Confirm the account type supports Calendar and that Calendar is enabled

    • In Outlook mobile, open Calendar > menu and ensure “Calendar” is toggled for the affected account.

Clear stale mobile partnerships (for Outlook.com/Microsoft 365 mailboxes)

    • From a browser, follow Outlook mobile troubleshooting > “Delete phone partnerships,” then let the phone re‑establish a fresh sync.
    • This fixes odd calendar composer behavior tied to an old device partnership.

Force the date inside the New Event composer or create via long‑press

    • After tapping +, explicitly tap Date and pick the target day (e.g., Feb 5).
    • Alternatively, long‑press on the time slot in the calendar grid to pre‑select the target date/time before opening the event editor.

UI workaround seen after recent Outlook Mobile updates

    • If the editor reverts to Today, switch the calendar to landscape, tap +, then rotate back.
    • This reliably keeps the chosen date in similar mobile calendar regressions.

If you rely on Google Calendar as a temporary path, ensure two‑way sync is enabled

Outlook > Settings > Calendar > toggle “Sync calendars” to export Outlook calendars into the device calendar app for editing, then re‑import changes.

Update to the latest Outlook for Android build and re‑try

Verify time‑zone settings (device and account)

    • Mismatched time zones can cause unexpected date jumps in editors.
    • Check device time zone, then in Outlook/Outlook on the web confirm calendar time‑zone settings.

Contact Outlook in‑app support with logs if it persists

Outlook > Settings > Help & Feedback > Contact Support.

See: Get in‑app help for Outlook for iOS and Android – Microsoft Support

It sounds like you are experiencing a synchronization issue with your Outlook calendar on your Android device. Here are a few suggestions that might help resolve the problem:

    1. Recreate ActiveSync Relationship: Sometimes, the ActiveSync relationship can become corrupted. You can try removing the ActiveSync relationship from your mobile device and then re-establishing it. This can often resolve syncing issues.
    2. Check for Updates: Ensure that both your Outlook app and your Android operating system are up to date. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer versions of the app or OS.
    3. Disable Add-ins: If you have any Outlook add-ins enabled, try disabling them as they might interfere with calendar functionality.
    4. Restart Your Device: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
    5. Check Permissions: Ensure that the Outlook app has the necessary permissions to access your calendar.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consult the Microsoft Community for further assistance.
