Block spam files from OneDrive

Please can anyone help?

I have had a spam file shared with my OneDrive - having followed the instructions to hide it, it is still there and worried about accidentally clicking on it (it's named GET CACHE from a strange email address).

I thought adding the email address to Block Senders may make it disappear but that doesn't work either.

Thanks for any help.

    Hello Andrew Barton,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I understand that you are having issue with spam file shared with OneDrive. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

I suggest you could try these steps:

    1) To make it disappear from OneDrive

On the OneDrive website (best place to do this):

    1. Go to OneDrive on the web and open Shared.
    2. Choose Shared with you.
    3. Find GET CACHE.
    4. Select it > Right‑click / 3 dots (…) > choose Remove from shared list.

That removes it from your Shared view, so you don’t accidentally click it again.

    2) If it shows up under “My files” or in File Explorer: remove the shortcut

Sometimes people accidentally add a shared folder as a shortcut into My files, which can also make it appear in File Explorer.

    Fix:

    1. In OneDrive on the web, go to My files.
    2. Look for the suspicious item (often looks like a linked/shortcut folder).
    3. Right‑click / (…) > Remove shortcut from My files.

    3) Report it to Microsoft

Microsoft provides a built-in way to report abusive/offensive/illegal content from the Shared view:

    1. In OneDrive on the web, go to Shared.
    2. Right‑click the item > Report a concern.
    3. Pick a reason, add any details, and submit.

You can also report anonymously using Microsoft’s “Report a concern” form (linked from the same support article).

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,
