    Hi Sharon,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the steps you have already taken to look for the missing email I understand how frustrating it can feel when you have checked the usual folders and recovery options and still cannot locate a message that should be there. You have done a great job covering the initial methods so let’s try another approach that may help uncover where the email might have gone.

Another option is to review the mailbox’s filtering and view settings because Outlook can sometimes hide messages based on the active filters or focused inbox settings. You can switch the view to show all messages and clear any filters that may be applied. It also helps to check whether the conversation view is grouping the missing email under an existing thread. If you are using Focused Inbox switching between Focused and Other may reveal the email if it was automatically categorized. You can also open Outlook on the web and use the advanced search operators to search by exact phrases, specific time frames or by using the “From” and “Has attachments” filters because web search can sometimes return results that the desktop app does not immediately surface.

If your mailbox uses any inbox rules, automatic sorting or third-party add-ins, reviewing and temporarily turning them off may uncover if the email was moved automatically. If the mailbox is part of a shared or delegated setup checking whether another user may have moved the message can also help. As a final step you can review the Recoverable Items folder through Outlook on the web since it may contain items that are not visible in the standard Deleted Items recovery pane.

Just to make sure we are covering all angles may I ask whether this email was expected from a specific sender or related to a particular date or event?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo

To find a missing email in Outlook, you can try the following methods:

    1. Check the Deleted Items Folder: Sometimes, emails may be accidentally deleted. Make sure to check the Deleted Items folder to see if the missing email is there.
    2. Use the Recover Deleted Items Feature: If the email is not in the Deleted Items folder, you can use the "Recover Deleted Items" feature. This allows you to recover items that have been deleted from the Deleted Items folder. You can access this feature by going to the Deleted Items folder and looking for the option to recover deleted items.
    3. Search All Mail Items: If you are unable to find the email by browsing folders, try using the search bar in Outlook. You can search for keywords, sender names, or specific dates to help locate the missing email.
    4. Check Other Folders: Sometimes, emails can be moved to other folders by rules or accidentally. Make sure to check other folders, including Archive, Spam, or any custom folders you may have.
    5. Use Outlook on the Web: If you are using the desktop version of Outlook, try accessing your email through Outlook on the web. This can help determine if the issue is with the desktop application.

If you still cannot find the email, consider reaching out to your IT department or Microsoft support for further assistance.
