Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Ken Bryant,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.
When you see another person’s name appear while typing your own email address in New Outlook, it’s usually caused by an AutoComplete or saved contact entry that contains an incorrect display name. This does not mean someone else has access to your email address.
Try this first (quick fix):
- Open a new email and click in the
Tofield. - Start typing your email address until the suggestion appears.
- Select the X next to that suggestion (or highlight it and press Delete) to remove it.
- Type your full email address again and send yourself a quick test email. If you’d like extra reassurance, you can also sign in to your Microsoft account and review Recent activity under Security. As long as everything there looks familiar, no further action is needed.
This behavior is a display/caching issue in Outlook and is quite common.
Please let me know if this proves useful to you, or if you would like further assistance.
I'm looking forward to your reply.
